Keeping Safe
Health Safety
A Health & Safety Committee, comprising staff and Governor representatives, regularly monitors the school site and current practice. Risk assessments are standard for all aspects of school life and for some individual pupils.
Fire Safety
The school has established procedures, and works in close partnership with the local Fire Prevention Officer.
The fire alarms are tested by our maintenance staff and we practise full emergency procedures in school and residential settings at least once a term.
Child Protection
The health, safety and welfare of pupils are of prime concern to the school. Policies and procedures for child protection are securely in place and all staff receive regular training to ensure practices are of the highest standard. I CAN is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and we carry out appropriate vetting and verification of qualifications, employment history and experience on all our staff.
We work closely in partnership with parent and carers, discussing with them any concerns we may have.
The school has five trained Child Protection Liaison Officers. Rob Walton, Principal, is the named Child Protection Officer responsible for all child protection issues at the school.
